mothra, honestly, what did you expect? Posting a pro-Python screed in a pro-Perl community, then stomping off to sulk when the responses you get don't meet your expectations of Python background knowledge is like whacking a wasp nest with a baseball bat, then complaining when you get stung.

And if you're going to give Python plusses for the bits of its syntax that are terser than Perl's, you might want to consider Perl constructs that are terser than Python's equivalents. I have no first-hand experience with Python, so I can't really comment, but I'm told that regex matching and interpolating variables into strings are much more cumbersome in Python than in Perl. More propaganda?
