Hmm, are you sure? AFAIK LWP doesn't have any dependacies on this C library and LWP doesn't wrap it or any other C library. In fact it is pure Perl module which cannot have direct dependancies on any C library.

You're right, but I distinctly remember the occasion. I wonder what really happened? Heisenbug I guess. The funny thing is I told someone else, and it worked for him, too. I haven't located any system calls in LWP. Mystifying.

    After Compline,

*nod* ..and i installed every LWP related port on the system now as well - to no avail. It seems that FreeBSD 4.4 and up have a new security default - to not allow programs to pop services up on un-announced ports. At crazyinsomniac's and MCE's suggestions, I went to the source install and manually started pokeing at it and found that the test was being denied the ability to pop up an HTTP::Daemon! So, problem solved by adding in an allowance for the installer to pop up on its port that it wanted.

Thanks all, for the suggestions and help.
