The entire approach to sockets in perl. The documentation reads 'refer to the C library documentation' which is appalling anyway. And things like SELECT still require the use of bit vectors. As near as I can tell, people produce good networking code in perl despite, not because of, perl's socket support.

And the docs for IO::Select and IO::Socket aren't much better.
