Perhaps if you'd actually read the documentation for `kill` . . . Update: BECAUSE IF YOU'D READ THE DOCUMENTATION FOR `kill` YOU'D SEE THAT `kill 0, $pid` DOESN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN MAKE SURE THAT THE PROCESS EXISTS.
