Hello Wise Monks. If you were to make the chatterbox automatically scroll smoothly (instead of jerking up one message at a time) and gradually disappear in to the upper margin, how would you do it? Is there a way just using perl or would you need java applets? Thanks.

    In order to have it scroll, you would have to import the XML ticker into some other form than an HTML page.

    You could make a Java Chatterbox, and fancy it up with different features like gradual fading and what not.

    There is a Perl Win32::GUI chatterbox and a Perl/Tk chatterbox as well as many other chat clients.
