I think you misunderstand me. I'm not saying that news posts are bad and shouldn't be tolerated, nor am I suggesting that Meditations should have stricter content guidelines. I'm suggesting that maybe Meditations isn't the right place for news posts, and that Perl News would be a better place. Calm down.

    Seems to me the surest way to rile someone up is to tell them to calm down. I believe you misinterpreted my remarks, you asked for an opinion and you recieved one. It just happens to be one I feel strongly about.

    As for using Perl News I (as a poster) would feel it inappropriate placement as the intro to that section reads

    This section used to collect Perl-related news items from news.perl.org (Copyright 2000, Chris Nandor) which has now been merged into use.perl.org. Please visit use.perl.org for Perl-related news.
