Ah, but why would I make that suggestion when it requires installing nmake? The package in question has no XS components. I've done by-hand Win32 installs of XS-less CPAN modules without nmake for several years now, to no ill effect.

    Of course you and I know how to do it. That's not the point. Evidently the poster did not so the points are:

    • Consistency
    • Usability
    • Reliability
    • Why not follow the standard installation method without any good reason?

    make nmake CPAN PPM and CPANPLUS exist to make it easier and more automated to do tasks that can be done by hand. Of course real men write their own device drivers.....
