When I posted this node, someone recommended the book, but I posted a request subsequently to a perl mongers list for more information and got this reply. Do you know if there is a newer edition?

perldoc perlport is still the definitive reference for Perl portability as far as I'm concerned, though you can probably find some helpful nodes here with Super Search.

Update: It seems that London Perl Mongers mail archive is having server problems. The jist of the reply was that one of the mongers had taught himself Perl 4 from this book, which made no reference to use strict etc.
