I frontpaged that node for two reasons:

1. It raised a lot of interesting discussion. I enjoyed reading the responses, and I think they're of particularly high quality. In other words, worth showing off.
2. It seemed an appropriate question to show newbies when they first visit the site. I imagine we get a fair bit of traffic from curious people who want to learn more about Perl. Lo and behold, their first question has already been asked, and well answered.
