Hey, that's awesome. If I understood it, the following regex is much simpler:

my $var = '...';
print 'Good' if '...Ovid' =~ /\Q$var\E(?=Ovid)/;
[download]

That regex is going to become:

/$var<before:Ovid>/
[download]

Much nicer :)
