Fellow Monks,

I just saw in an IRC channel that Perl 5.8.0, Release Candidate 1 is out: ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/CPAN/src/perl-5.8.0-RC1.tgz.

The name should be obvious but I would like to stress that this is not the final release.

    To compile with ithreads on linux, I had to add '-lpthread' to the lib list when configuring. With that it compiled, tested and installed clean :)

    $ perl -v

    This is perl, v5.8.0 built for i686-linux-thread-multi-64int-ld
    ...

    After Compline,

    As someone who has never used bleadperl before, is there anywhere that I can find a full list of changes from 5.6.1 to 5.8.0?

      Yes, it's in pod/perldelta.pod. Pasted here for your convenience: Use the link given by Beatnik :)
