Has anyone considered putting in a mechanism for moving nodes from Categorized Questions and Answers to Seekers of Perl Wisdom? Q & A should be a respository for more general questions - common problems that come up frequently - as opposed to questions about a specific instance or problem.

For example, How do I preserve file times when using Net::FTP? is a really good example of a good Q & A question - it's a general topic. A node like How can I create a file named "default.asp?11=1"? (which is a perfectly good question to ask) seems like a specific topic more suited for SOPW - but there's no way (that I know of) to move it there.

I guess my concern is keeping the clutter out of the Categorized Q & A section. As it says there:

If you have a specific question that you would like a timely response to, then the place for your question is Seekers of Perl Wisdom. If it's a general question that has been asked a lot, and you have some really good answers for it lined up, then add those here.

Or do we just continue to hope that users read Where should I post X?....

The mechanism you describe exists. It appears as a link labeled "SOPWify!" when one of the QandAEditors looks at the node in question.

The QandAEditors clan works quietly in the background to attend to the issues you refer to and other matters relating to the Categorized Questions and Answers Section
