Flame has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

No offence to the author, but I find this module... disturbing. Why bother to offer an abstraction layer for File::Slurp on CPAN when people can use File::Slurp themselves and build their own without much effort? In fact, what does XML::Simpler have to do with XML? Does anyone understand why this module exists? Is it in some way simpler than XML::Simple (which actually has something to do with XML)?

Sorry for the bit of a rant, but I don't know what to make of this... since when are 13 lines of code used to create an abstraction layer for an unrelated module, considered a module?

I'm done... heh... sorry again. I applaud and thank the author for XML::Simple, but I fail to see a purpose in XML::Simpler.

    Reference Links:
    XML::Simple
    XML::Simpler

    *Flame looks stupid.*

    ... Lol... I just looked at the release date... very funny... but what is it still doing on CPAN then?

      It's Perl. To quote your sig, "weird things happen, get used to it". :)
