Flowcharts are still of ultimate importance. Someone who does not rely on drawing them is trying to hold all that information in their head, which is a bad place for it.
However, since the days of BASIC, imperative or procedural programming has gone out of fashion. So, now the flowcharts denote the structure of the objects primarily, and the actual flow of the program is analysed in other ways.
The flowchart language is called UML - Unified Modelling Language.
