Nihil Angst has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Greetings,

I'm trying to generate personalized Web pages. My site
is on Tripod and I'm using a module called TripodPage.pm.
When I click on my form's submit button I get taken to
a Tripod default page that says the URL I'm trying to
reach doesn't exist. I'm pretty sure the problem is in
the value for the from's end_display tag. Here's the
code for the from. Thanks in advance for any help you
can give.
<FORM METHOD="post" ACTION="http://cgi.tripod.com/existentialxmas/cgi- bin/TripodCGI"> First Name: <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="firstName" SIZE="25"><BR> Last Name:<INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="lastName" SIZE="25"><BR> Age: <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="Age" SIZE="3"><BR> <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="end_display" VALUE="http://cgi.tripod.com/existentialxmas/cgi-bin/response.cgi"> <INPUT TYPE="submit"> <INPUT TYPE="reset">

After a bit of poking around ( and setting up an account I don't really need... ) I think I may have a road for you to travel to find your answers.

First off, have you tried the help files at tripod? They seem to have quite a bit of information there.

Next, did you upload all the CGI modules they say are needed to run scripts?

Short of that, I can't offer any more help, and as fuzzyping said, without showing the monestary what you've written as far as a perl script it's tough to help.

I still stand by my original suggestion that you're not calling it correctly. As Tripod doesn't seem to worry about .cgi or .pl or permissions ( which seems odd ) my suspicion is that you're trying to call one of their files and not your own.

    Good luck!

Some people fall from grace. I prefer a running start...

Rather than re-posting a new version of Form submit jumps to wrong file., why don't you let us know what you found out from Tripod after following PopcornDave's advice at Re: Re: Re: Form submit jumps to wrong file.? Your circumstances don't appear to have changed since then, and you haven't provided any additional information to your original post.

Are you sure that your ACTION target matches the target script? It appears to me that you're not using your CGI script properly, but without the code from the script (not your calling HTML form), we can't really help.

Most cgi scripts end in .pl or .cgi

A search on CPAN for any module matching 'Tripod' comes up empty. Presumably the module(s) are documented and supported at tripod.

If you post perl code, maybe we can help, but the html form is not very informative.

Update: Oops, hadn't seen didn't remember the dupe.
