Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

hi all What should I do in the first time, if I'll make chat client (for example YM) ? Where should I connect to? Is it correct if we must take cookie first and then login? (why we must take cookie first ?) If what should we do is to connect to server, Which server should we connect to and what number of the port? isnt it scs.yahoo.com port 5050 ? thanks, zaka

If you want to connect to yahoo messenger, you can find some docs in www.venkydude.com/articles/yahoo.htm. Or get the Perl program in http://benoit.papillault.free.fr/yahoo_messenger. Or make your own. But it looks pretty difficult for a first networking project.	[reply]
