Get a far superior operating system
Alot of the monks here use windows, i cant argue that linux is superior, but you can still use windows and perl will work just about the same
chmod is a *nix command, in windows i believe you can just right click on the file or directory to access the permissions
editors are a matter of personal opinion and preference, when im on my windows box, i use edit pad and it get the job done just fine
The AM who answered doesnt speak for everyone here at the monastery, most of us are confortable enough with *nix systems to answer *nix questions that arent necessarily perl questions, its not that big a deal...ask whatever you want, just make sure you read the Perl Monks guide to the Monastery, The perl monks site FAQ, and the Site How To
