This isn't really a suggestion, but on my home node at zdog, I have posted a ZDog Hall of Fame. There I will induct PerlMonks which I feel are dedicated to the site and to Perl. The first inductee will be announced on July 1, 2000. This is my personal thing and in no way does it reflect the official opinions of the people that run this site (vroom). So check it out. I will post the induction announcement in this section on the above date.

Uh, zdog, not that I want to put your idea down, but wouldn't you agree this is the sort of competitiveness that we don't need? I mean, I have a hard time enough accepting Saints in our Book. You see, I am all for commending those that put in effort, and work hard at helping others out, but there is always the downside of those that are left out the of a hall of fame.

And I'll be frank: calling it the "ZDog Hall of Fame" doesn't have a nice ring to it. Maybe you could call it "Saints in my Book"? I don't know... There's something about your idea that makes me uncomfortable. I just can't put a finger on it yet. Probably the same thing that makes me uncomfortable about Saints in our Book. If I had to guess, its just that I rank rather highly and I'm Just Another Perl Joe. I'm too avarage of a user to be up there with the big guys. Dah... I'm just rambling.

I feel that my inductees will not ranked on just XP and Perl knowledge, but rather the willingness to help someone, the way they treat other Monks, and how much they participate in the events surrounding the site.

As far as the name goes, I rather like it, maybe because I am a big sports fan, but that's my opinion.

All I can say to that is:
        Oooh! OK, then!

Seriously though, that does sound like a nice way to rank the monks. Go for it! I had a totaly wrong idea about what you intended to do. :)
