I have viewed the on-site docs and reviewed some of the more
recent threads regarding chatterbox clients. I am still at a
loss, I guess I have less knowledge of web tools than the various
instructions assume.

What chatterbox client would folk recommend to use with Linux and
Galeon or Mozilla?

How do you "run" a client "from" a browser?
How do you install a client?

Try this fullscreen chatterbox browser client. No installation needed, just click on that link or point your browser to that address. I use Opera as my default browser and it works fine. I've also tested it in Galeon and it worked well.

Note: I did not write this "client."

Yak it up with Fullscreen ChatBox

And besides that, you may also want to look at the Java Chatterbox.

None of the other clients are run from your browser - you run them from the console (or your window manager's menu or something I guess), and they poll the ticker(s) on their own account. There's no webbrowser involved.

    Makeshifts last the longest.
