"Object Oriented Perl" is a great book, but if you want to do things on the cheap, read perldoc perltoot and (in Perl 5.6) perldoc perlroot.

Not `perldoc perlroot` but `perldoc perlboot`. It's also in the CPAN at perlboot. -- Randal L. Schwartz, Perl hacker	[reply]

originally yes it was called `perlroot`, but then Sarathy thought it should have a name that was not just a direct parallel with `perltoot`. -- Randal L. Schwartz, Perl hacker	[reply]
