Funny, I dislike people who get all worked up and start swearing for the same reasons. They tend to be the ones who take things personally - which impedes growth, if you ask me. And to remain calm and considerate does not have to be coupled to politeness - you can be decidedly rude brash without resorting to profanities. People earn my respect when they can get angry without getting mad.
Well that's why I mentioned the slamming the phone down and then shouting "bloody idiot". If it was in the reverse order that would just be foolish.
I think we're actually agreeing - we both don't mind seeing people get mad. I'm used to seeing people walk around the corner after being nice to a client and start swearing a blue streak. Since there aren't any clients around here I'd expect to hear people cut loose occasionally.
I agree with you totally on the taking it personally thing, but sometimes when I'm dealing with a complete dickhead I can't help taking it personally. However I rarely swear thesedays (too easy to do when someone sensitive is near).
