wanker has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I have an apache/mod_perl server running on RedHat Linux. Occaisionally I get the following error in the apache error_log:
[Thu Jan 13 11:43:47 2000] [error] Can't use global $^W in "my" at /us +r/local/apache/htdocs/auth/perl/edit_profile.pl line 1.
It seems intermittent.

Has anybody experienced this before

This begs the question: what is line 1 of that file? Perl is complaining because $^W is reserved as the "is warnings enabled?" indicator.
