phildog has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I'm looking for something dead simple and easy to integrate with an existing site. Do you know of a free perl script out there somewhere?

The web/smtp integration is key. Optional use of mysql would be awesome.

If you don't know what quicktopic is:
is quicktopic cool and should it be perl freeware?

Kick the tires, post on the web and by responding to emails. It's perl-erific!

/me plugs Discusware once more - although I'm not sure if it's 100% what you want.

Discusware is not bad, but it lacks the feature that makes quicktopic most appealing--the ability to respond to an email and your comment automatically becomes part of the web page's archived discussion. this means that people can join the conversation later and see a chronological history of the archived messages (in an interface much more logical than a long string of forwarded messages at the bottom of an email).

this is a bit hard to follow from a description. If you try the link on my original question you will see exactly how it works.

it's actually quite a compelling concept. try it!

disclaimer: i've only used quicktopic's free stuff (and I don't work there).
