What "another way"? You used no way....

A typical way is: 

    rename ($old, $new) or die "Failed to rename $old to $new: $!\n";

    Abigail, How can it be failing if there is a new file name created. It is just the wrong name.

      Hello everyone,
      Reading through this post I see the familiar problem where after all suggestions are followed no solution was offered. Many questions asked repeatedly. Snippy responses but no Answers or real possibilities to solving the problem except Please check the documentation.
