hotshot has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Morning all!!

I'm currently working on Liux RedHat 7.1 and Perl 5.6.0. I wish to upgrade the Linux to RedHat 7.3 and if possibly the Perl too. Can someone tell me what version of Perl comes with RedHat 7.3 and what is the current Perl version that is available and reliable that I can upgrade to, and how do I do that.

RedHat 7.3 comes with Perl 5.6.1, and RedHat 8.0 comes with Perl 5.8.0, the lastest version of Perl.

    1. See http://redhat.com
    2. Make sure you have a compiler, download perl, follow the instructions (unless you'd like to do it from rpm's, in which case, see above).
