Dear Monks,
I think that the feature I am requesting would make newest nodes viewing much easier for lots of us. It's about generating the page for the only nodes you want to see. Let's have a checkbox next to each item in newest nodes and then 'view only' submit button can produce a page containing the expansion of those nodes. This would definitely reduce server load as now many among us must be clicking each node to see what is in there. So only one page can be served instead of clicking back and forth.

Other things such as Limiting the upperbound of the items or Expansion of certain nodes which contains certain keywords etc.. can be added.

Artist,
Practing art of all in one.

Certainly seconded, I'd also be interested in more control over the "show...past N days" option -- on a per section basis rather than once for the whole lot, for example I'd like to see only the last (say) few hours of new notes, and (say) the last week's book reviews, with the rest defaulting to 1 day.

I've seen some boards that will move old nodes to the top of the list if they get a new reply.. not just newly created nodes. This way, you don't have to go searching for old topics you meant to follow, only to find that they have no new replies.

I don't have any server stats, but I think that loading the page, then reloading the page after Perl/Everything parses out unwanted nodes and displays the tree for nodes selected.

Perhaps static pages generated at various times when free CPU cycles are up would be a easier and more straight-forward plan to set in place. An outside server/robot could generate and display the pages.
