parasew has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

looking on perlmonks for some GL, 3d or video, i was wondering if any of you are using perl to create graphical output, such as typographics, video-transitions, realtime 3d, whatever. in general, since this is my field of interest, i would be very pleased, if you could give me any hints on where to start, or post good urls with tutorials, etc.
my search on cpan and google returned the following:
Simple DirectMedia Layer
SDL for perl
OpenGL 0.5 - Perl module to display 3D data
Prima - a perl graphic toolkit

i would like to know which kind of tools and libraries you are using for your perl eyecandy.

nice book, i just ordered it ;)
just some issue: it looks to me, as if perl-GTK isn't mentioned in this book. does this mean, gtk isn't good for perl image processing or visual output?

The PDL module has some nice 3d realtime graphics also.
whow, PDL looks very powerful, but also sdlperl looks veery interesting. i will post my experiences or code here, when i did something.

please also take a look at a new SDL portal and also creating SVG with perl might be worth a look. i think that also VRML with perl can be a nice thing.
especially perl gaming is a quite nice thing, such as frozen bubble. i was also taking a look at nebula device, sadly it's just scriptable through Tcl/Tk, Python and Lua. anyone has an idea, if it would be possible to control it with perl?
