I was first introduced to Perl in 1998, but only started truly using it regularly with a job that I started in 2002. I haven't been doing much Perl recently, however. I learned a great deal in my 3 year stint with that job, and mostly used it for writing web-based tools, data gathering and reporting s‎crip‎ts, or monitoring s‎crip‎ts for use with our many servers. I got involved in using Perl for SNMP and databases for a while, which was about as deep as I had to go.
