I think I am a 76- 100% overall. But rank myself (A) below.

Really depends on your take on 'effort'.

(A) - A skilled developer may have to put in very little effort to get the job done, but may have to put in a lot of effort to get to important mettings, ect. ( Important mettings,,, is that an oxy moron? )

(B) - On the other hand, some may have to put in a ton of effort writing code, and no effort doing anything else.

(C) - What about those who have effortless jobs, they may apply themselves 100%, but have a job that requires 0 effort. Such as a Ice cream taste testor, visual basic developer, or gas station clerk.

(D) - None of the above, you live on welfare, and have to make 100% effort to cash that check. Or a similer situation.

Hey! Being a gas station attendent is much more difficult then it sounds. No, really. You have to deal with things beeping at you and a constantly growing stack of customers, all while making sure nobody drives off, and constantly copying numbers between different machines. In other words, it's a lot like programming, except standing up and at four times the pace with a tenth of the payrate. Also, there's a difference between front-loaded and continous effort. My job doesn't require constantly doing 100%. It does, however, require learning how to do whatever needs to be done, quickly, and well. I do 120% some of the time, and 70% some of the time. Of course, the entire thing doesn't make sense unless you say "percent of what"? Warning: Unless otherwise stated, code is untested. Do not use without understanding. I resent that '0 effort ... visual basic developer' .. try working with some MS "programming languages" and then tell me I'm doing 0 effort.. (and if you ask me, it's a language like any other, incl. Perl) Anyfish, I rate myself 31-50% for 'at work', I put more effort into stuff I do for myself, than stuff I do just because it pays the bills.. Such is life I guess.. Wishing someone else would pay her to do stuff she likes to do C.	[reply]
