batkins has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I've been trying (unsuccessfully) for quite some time now to install Tk::JPEG on my Win32 box. Whenever I run nmake on it, I get an error complaining that nmake doesn't know how to make jcapi.c. Any ideas?

TIA,
Bill

Tk::JPEG is freely available from randy's ppm repository.

Why isn't that repository in your list already?

update in case anyone is wondering, I maintain a list of repositories at my repository at http://crazyinsomniac.perlmonk.org/perl/ppm/.

Use this build of ActiveState Perl:
      ActivePerl-5.6.1.633-MSWin32-x86.msi

It installs Tk-JPEG like a f***ing dream with the ppm utility..

This may or may not help, but Tk::Jpeg installs cleanly on my Win2k machine using ActiveState's PPM.

ppm couldn't install it, but your post inspired me to look for a .ppd file. i found one, but the binary is compiled for 5.6 and i'm running 5.8
