My apologies if this has been brought up before, my intention is not to dig the horse up and beat it some more. When previewing a node prior to posting today I noticed that the timestamp on the 'Preview Page' is a little wacky:

Has it always been like that and I just didn't notice it before?

Thats when vroom created the preview page, I guess. At least, thats what I always thought.

Yes, it's as castaway says. At the point you are previewing your post, you have not yet created a node, so it can't refer to you and now. The date and owner and you see are that of the preview page, which is much like comment on. I guess the former could be patched to not show an owner and date, like the latter, though I'm not sure (preview page is a strangedoc as opposed to comment on which is a superdoc).

    Makeshifts last the longest.

(BTW, if you've got your custom title (see user settings) set to show the creation date, you'll see it's there even for things like the preview page and comment on that you don't generaly think of as being nodes, with authors. In Everything, even the nodetype node is a node. For that matter, the node nodetype is a node, of type nodetype. Thus, the name Everything, because Everything isa Node.)
