I am thinking that maybe we should have a new section added: "Perl Success Stories".

This is obviously not the same as "Snippt" section. Is this the same as "Cool Uses of Perl", some monks might say yes, but I don't think so.

This is more a section that, let monks share:
  1. What do/did they use Perl for?
  2. What are the Perl projects they are working/worked on?
  3. What made them choose Perl instead of other language?
  4. What are the benefits they actually gained by picking Perl?
  5. Why they thought the project is a success?
  6. Look back, whill you choose a different language? Why?
  7. What is the part they think Perl doing well in that project? What makes them a little bit concerned/frustrated?
  8. Did you realized any good design/develop pattern that others can share? (pattern, I would think this is what the Perl community does poorly, and at the same time, what we can all contribute)
  9. What are the responses from non-perl guys/gals in the organization?
I would say this is a section that let monks look at things at a higher level.

Your thoughts?

Perl.com already offers a Success Story section. Why have another one here?

And if you're interested in mod_perl. perl.apache.org offers a mod_perl success story section as well.

I would be really interested in seeing more perl design patterns, like a filled out http://patternsinperl.com/ or http://www.panix.com/~ziggy/perl_patterns.html. These could come from successful projects, midnight inspirations, or whatever.

Perlmonks is already a great place to go for discussion, golf, obfuscation, poetry, etc... why not setup a patterns section?
