Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi to all, does anybody has experience or knows wether eclipse (www.eclipse.org) is working for/with Perl under/on Linux?
Perl seems to be one of the features:
Scripting IDE - Perl, Python, Ruby A commonly requested "tool" for Eclipse are internet scripting languages such as Perl, Python and Ruby.

Thanks, Carl

Did you read the FAQ ...

There's often a wide gap between what a FAQ says and what people actually experience, particularly when the project authors write the FAQ. Our anonymous friend asked for people's experiences, so let's cut him/her a little slack.

I've tried using Eclipse to edit Perl on Windows, but found it to be a memory pig, and nowhere near as responsive as other editors. It does have a reasonably good interface to CVS. No experience yet on Linux.

        Thanks dws,
that's what I was looking for!

        - of course I've read the FAQs and I've read there what you've answered here and I can tell you it's nothing but annoying.
There no clear answer, wether Perl works or not! One said (to a similar question) you can write it yourself - wow, what an answer.
Another had written (more that a year ago): I'm writing an pluggin for Perl. But there is none -
tachyon, what's the state of the Perl plugging? Your answer tells me that you might know more than what you've written here and everybody easily could find that out.
Would you mind sharing your knowledge with me and the others?
