I know that the induction wasn't scheduled until August 1, but I decided that I would induct people as it comes up.

Today's inductee is: merlyn.

Supposedly he knows a lot about Perl and has a good sense of humor. And if I'm not mistaken, he wrote some kind of a book. But!! What sold me on him can be found here.

That's it. Please respond with your opinion about the inductee choice. My home node will be updated later today.

Thanx.

Supposedly he knows a lot about Perl ...

ROTFL. "Supposedly"? You are talking about one of the Perl uber-gurus of all time. And he actually seems to be a very nice guy. Which is something you can't say about all the Perl uber-gurus out there :-)

    Good choice, zdog.

Well, yes, I'd say he wrote a couple of good books. Have you ever heard of "The Camel Book"? ;)

I could be wrong, but I read zdog's post as dry humor - irony & understatement.   Sorta like saying summertime in Houston, TX, USA is somewhat warm and just a bit humid. (100 degrees Farenheit and 90% humidity for 2 months straight, back when I lived there.   ;^)

Ooops...   I shoulda re-read the thread before posting.   zdog has already explained his intent.

It seems as though some people have taken my sarcasm and thought that I don't know much. But the fact is that I know that he wrote Learning Perl and Programming Perl and that he is one of the greater Perl minds out there.

But I wanted to be humorous and convey a message that made it seem like those obfuscations were his greatest accomplishment.
