It seems that I have been here quite a while and that I have written a lot of posts. This one happens to be my 1024th. :-)

Anyway, I just wanted to say that everyone here has been a big help to me. You've taught me lots, and opened my eyes to lots of things.

Thanks to everyone. Beyond vroom I wont mention anyone in particular. You all know who you are. vroom thanks for creating the site that has brought me so much enjoyment. I wonder if you knew how successful this site would be when you first started working on it. :-)

Cheers all, heres to another 1024 posts, hopefully they will be even better than the first lot.

demerphq, what you wrote highlights the essence of this site for me. I am a relatively new monk, but already I have gotten into the habit many of us have, of helping others out because I remember being a newbie and not quite getting the difference between $$foo{'bar'} and $foo->{'bar'}; of being intimidated by map, and of not really having any reason to create a Mozilla bookmark of "http://search.cpan.org/search?mode=all&query=%s".

You thank the rest of the monks for helping you out, for being great sharers of wisdom... but I would like to thank you back. You are one of the handful (Okay, double-armful) of monks whose names I recognize from post after (helpful|interesting|thought-provoking) post, and I want you to know that, at least in this monk's opinion, you have given back more than your share to the community.

    Thank you right back.

Thank you very much for the complement Lai.

In a place like this we all are standing on the shoulders of giants. Even the gods learned from someone else at one point or another...

And wisdom isnt always knowing the answer to something. Sometimes its the question that shows wisdom and not the answer. ("Mommy why is that man not wearing any clothes?" ;-)

Many people have asked interesting questions that I have replied to, trying to help them, and learn for myself at the same time. So while I may have helped by answering, they have unknowningly helped by asking. I think thats the secret of this place. :-)

Glad that you and I and lot of people are enjoying the perlmonks site and many thanks to vroom for that. In order to expand our joy, we can create other sites like this and propogate the mission to the next level. Brainstorming sessions for the subjects for new sites are required. :-).

Seriously, I like to see if more communities like ours would exist. We have about 300 to 400 regulars here from my estimation. Any enhanced stats would help here. I like to see more sites like this, and have flow of more intelligence, more participation and we can benefit more as a community.

We can start by listing other community sites that we visit regularly and what other type of site we wish would be out there.

I like to see if there is a community site for programming and algorithms in general.
