in reply to Math::Pari won't install

hpuxperl,
I got it to work on my N4000 PA 2.0 RISC architecture, with Perl 5.6.1, and HP's ANSI compliant compiler. Here's how:

  • First go download pari-2.1.4 at ftp://megrez.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari
  • Next go download Math::Pari at http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/I/IL/ILYAZ/modules/Math-Pari-2.010305.tar.gz
  • Next, decompress and extract pari-2.1.4
  • Next, decompress and extract Math::Pari
  • Move Math::Pari's directory under pari-2.1.4
  • cd pari-2.1.4
  • ./Configure -a
    architecture = hppa if not already default OS = hpux if not already default Optimized Pari Kernel = hppa if not already default High Resolution = X11 if not already default optimization = full if not already default path to CC = you will need to ensure it points to GCC Accept defaults on CC flags path to CC Linker = you will need to ensure it points to GCC Accept defaults on CC linker flags Linker path = /usr/bin/ld Accecpt defaults on linker flags Accept defaults on install directory/man paths/etc Static executable = y if not already default Select defaults to dir name Select NO to actually building - VERY IMPORTANT

  • cd Make::Pari directory
  • If Makefile exists - type make realclean
  • Type perl Makefile.PL machine=port
  • Type make
  • Type make install

    That is how I got it to work on my machine

    Hope this helps - cheers - L~R
