in thread How much maintenance time for PM?

I think that the purpose intended by Slash vs. the Everything engine is entirely different. I think Slash would be good for a informational portal style site (like its namesake). I don't think it's good as a discussion site. The way Perl Monks is set up presents a much better ground for discussion.

The moderation system has some flaws, but it's worthwhile. I do agree, however, that the moderation system in Slash is much better. But I like the ranks -- it gives you an idea of just how accepted a person is in a community, and how much (s)he contributes.

Perhaps it would be good to think about what you really want to do. If you want to do a portal style site, slash is the way to go. If you want to host discussions, and you want user-moderation, then everything engine might be good.
