I've noticed this often stated as a positive and as a negative. Does anyone know of a practical application of some sort of middle-ground? What I'm thinking of is basically expanding the choice in areas such as optional typing to a language-wide basis. Maybe throwing a 'use enterpriseDev' (or lemmingDev depending on your opinion) which would enforce some of the points in your first list.

Mind you, I think the lack of oxygen means I've just gone in over my head. Time for a little more research. Thanks for all the excellent responses :)
