Hello all

I am asking here because I know that a number of Monks are System Administrators, hence potential subscribers of the magazine and because all started after subscribing Sys Admin when it published "The Perl Journal".

I am having a lot of troubles in receiving the magazine: some issues never arrived, some didn't hit my desk at due time and I had to ask for them to be resent; in particular a recent story is worth telling

I'm beginning asking myself if I am the only one that is experiencing such troubles or if it is a common problem for subscribers outside USA. Any Sys-Admin-subscriber monk here to confort me?

Ciao!
--bronto

The very nature of Perl to be like natural language--inconsistant and full of dwim and special cases--makes it impossible to know it all without simply memorizing the documentation (which is not complete or totally correct anyway).

The company I'm working for subscribed to both Linux Journal and SysAdmin Magazine. And being far away of US and in the middle of nowhere (Cyprus), I can use Linux Journal instead of my NTP server to sync clocks. I wish I could say at least half of it for SysAdmin Mag.

Update: Few minutes after finished this reply I got May 2003 issue of Linux Journal and April 2003 issue of SysAdmin Mag. :) Conspiracy?

well, i keep throwing away their 'this is your last issue' notices. they keep sending me the magazine even though i've never subscribed. must be some evil marketing ploy.

Personally, I would like to see more Perl coverage. In general, I think the mag is too thin and too full of ads. A Questions & Answers section for Perl would be nice. Just more Perl. Also, if you read the subscribers information in every issue, you will see that they sell your personal info (ie, address, etc). I've never been comfortable with such practices.
