nathanvit has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello, i downloaded WindowMaker's themes from freshmeat.
They are in alphabetical order but if you want them in 'last update format' you have to login. I'd like to make a script which connect me to themes.freshmeat.net/ with my username and password and it send me an email if there are new themes. Is it possible?
Any suggestions?
Which module may i use to connect with my account?
Thanks

    WWW::Mechanize is good for that. You would need to keep track of which themes you've already seen. Storable is good for that. Mail::Sendmail is just one of several modules you can use to actually compose and send yourself the mail.

    Yep, its possible, check out:

    LWP::UserAgent
    HTTP::Request

    If you want some sample code, I'm sure we can cook something up for ya.

    UPDATE:jaldhar's is a better suggestion, WWW::Mechanize slipped my mind, somehow.

    Take a look at the libwww-packages. It has all you need. http://search.cpan.org/author/GAAS/libwww-perl-5.69/lwpcook.pod
