The mnemonic I use is to stress the second syllable: "moNASTery". That reminds me that the word is kin to "monastic".

Of course, that alone won't stop people from writing "monastary"... So just remember "mystery" and/or "stationery".

    I can just imagine the long lines of stationary monks waiting to remember the wrong 'stationery'! :)

    What about the following:
    All monks are focused "on Mastery" of perl?

    Just a thought!
