That's what I was thinking—use big ints in Perl (which will be native in Perl 6) and convert book code to Perl, cleaning up a little to take advantage of operators, etc.

One caution: if you decide to use Big Ints, take care to install and use one of the XS libraries. Basic BigInt calculation is in pure perl, by default! Take a look at the docs for Math::BigInt, section MATH LIBRARY. The current options seem to be Math::BigInt::BitVect, Math::BigInt::Pari and Math::BigInt::GMP.	[reply]
