That's a good point. My idea isn't really well thought out at this point.

For someone whose initial post gives rise to some great discussion, this idea makes sense. If the initial post is a troll .. the propagated XP would to some extent mitigate the negative XP from the root node.

Kind of looks like a solution looking for a problem, doesn't it?

    I also think it would be yet another way to XP whore. Just ask popular questions and watch the XP roll in!

      That's how it works now anyway. The Best Nodes of Last Week are usually nodes that ask a good question.

        No disagreement there. Though if you look at the Best Nodes of last week, Most of the questions were fairly in-depth meditations that were fairly intruiging and written by monks who having read their posts for a couple years don't strike me as too whorish :)

        I just don't see the value in this proposal and I think it would promote more kruft by people who give a frig about XP without really adding anything to the Monastery, but YMMV.
