in reply to Time::Hires installation under RH Linux 9.0
Is there some reason you are not able to install the current version? (Time::HiRes 1.48) It gets, makes, and installs perfectly on my Redhat 9.0 distro.
Cheers,

Unfortunately in theis "experiment" I changed 2 variables at the same time: 1) RH 7.3 -> RH 9.0 2) perl 5.6.1 to 5.8.0 Your results would indicate that perhaps RH 9.0 is not the problem. On your RH 9.0 do you have perl 5.8.0 or 5.6.1 ? Thanx! gary | [reply] |

Hmm. perl -V give me this (just in case you want to compare more). HTH

I then tried to install the Time::Hires and got the same error Here is the perl -V off that system:

Hi - the monks who have suggested changing your locale settings are correct (see this, this, and this). See make 'missing separator' error when building CPAN modules on RedHat 8/9 for more info. HTH --3dan | [reply] |

I tried using an older version of Time::HiRes from cpan.org - v1.20. Same problem, except the error "missing separator" appears on line 88 in this case. Perhaps something is broken in the perl Makefile.PL process and it is making bad Makefile? | [reply] |
