Sorry it's caused you so much hassle - i'm working on a non vt100 version now anyway.
One thing that might help (correct me if i'm wrong) is your TERM setting?

Alex, No hassle. Just interested in the how and why programs act different on different systems and under different OS's. The TERM setting on the winME machine is TERM=cygwin (within cygwin when running anyway). Haven't figured out where to change the setting yet. The Mac is awaiting a working monitor so can't check TERM on it right now. I think you're right on the TERM settings. I need to learn more about the enviromental parameters. Daeve	[reply]
