in reply to YAPC::NA::2004 Call for Venue

Will incoming proposals be available for perusal on the website?

Uh, oh, http://www.yapc.org/America/previous-years/19100/ <- funny ;)(embaressing?)

Hmm, a YAPC in California? Anyone?

I run a Win32 PPM repository for perl 5.6.x and 5.8.x -- I take requests (README).

To quote from the page you linked to:

    Yes we know

If you got this far, you probably already know the 19100 is a joke. Y2K really was uneventful, wasn't it?

So no, it wasn't embarrassing. You didn't think we were that absent-minded, did you ;-)

This is an excellent idea. Could someone shed some light on the current decision process and which parts are publically disclosed?

The venue committee membership will be public, as will the archives of the venue discussion list. At least parts of the proposals, the dates and places, will be made public. I'm not sure if the entire proposals will--if nothing else there'll have to be some redaction, as there'll likely be venue contact names, phone numbers, and email addresses in them, and I'm not comfortable making that public on the web without the permission of the people involved.
