I am too lazy to login, but I just wanted to say that I love this community. I can't stand others, but this place rocks. You guys are really cool. If only Larry would visit this place once in a while . . .

You know what would be really cool is if we could come up with a Perl question for Larry (vote on it) and then the question with the most positive votes gets answered by him. That would be neat. Hmmm . . . maybe like the question with the most xp in a given year gets answered by him if he so desires. I dunno, I just would like Larry to show up once in a while . . . {sniffle}

    Larry is barely able to keep up with the work of creating the Perl6 design (and feeding his family). I'd hate to distract him with Yet Another Question (or questions).

    If you wanna see Larry, go to OSCON or a Geek Cruise. He does show up where invited. But don't expect him to show up here, especially since he gave up even Usenet many years ago.

    Be sure to read my standard disclaimer if this is a reply.

      "He does show up where invited. But don't expect him to show up here, especially since he gave up even Usenet many years ago."

      He shows up here regularly.

    I wonder why would you want the question to be answered by Larry. Aren't the rest of the monks not good enough? Of course, my experience with the monastery is not that long, but from what I've seen, all questions get answered pretty good. If something was left behind it probably means that the question was ugly formulated by itself.

    Anonymous Monk,
    I will not echo what others have already said as I feel they are right. I will just mention that the vast majority of the people that are working on Perl 6 development are not getting paid for it directly. They have to work regular jobs just like the rest of us. They have medical problems and family's to support. And yet, a lot of them still find time to come here, answer questions, and contribute to the community. Some of them have chosen handles which do not directly identify themselves, so I will not bother to list who they are. I would check out Perl.com's weekly review of Perl 6. Get involved in the mailing lists. Larry is around where and when he can find the time.

    Cheers - L~R

    You might want to keep your eye on TimToady then. He seems to have a special relationship with Larry ;)

    Uh-oh... sounds very " /.ish" IMHO. I don't think anyone here wants to go down 'that' road. >;)

    No offence meant, it's just that I agree with what TVSET had to say:

    Aren't the rest of the monks not good enough?

    I've found that there are many exceptional people (Monks) with a vast array of knowledge and experience which not only lends to education / problem solving but humour and respect for others.
