I think the best mechanism for keeping a big list of interesting nodes (like nodes to revisit) is the browser bookmarks.

Best in some circumstances, perhaps, but not in mine. I use several different machines regularly (2 at home, 2 at work) and others on occasion. Keeping bookmarks synched and up-to-date on all of them is basically an impossibility. I do keep bookmarks up on a personal site, but adding URLs to that is essentially a manual process.
