I was at the auction. Ingy actually "launched" Perl 7 by re-enacting Jon Orwant's fabled mug throwing. "Perl 6 is doomed. We need Perl 7." It was a joke and I think Andy just forgot to explain that. No malice, just sleep deprivation.
