(The title is a joke related to some recent discussion regarding the word 'deprecated')

Some people (especially the new) tend to make more than one of the exact same post - as if they are just hitting the Stumbit button over and over again. It would be best if a feature was added that did not let you add a new node unless it's name was different from your previous post.

What I would really like to adderss, however, is how the community should react to multiple posts. I propose that the rule of thumb is to always respond to the *earliest* post, and savagely vote down the others until the Grim Reaper can come along and remove them. It can be hard to keep up when there are 5 identical posts, and some people have replied to #1, some to #3, some to #5, etc. Even if the original poster adds a new post that clarifies or expands the original, they should be asked to edit and update the original itself, rather than leave confusing copies cluttering up our coveted cloister. :)

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

Absolutely brilliant idea, get them to edit their question. Oh! you can't edit questions :-(. Ah well back to the drawing board.

(Either that or give us the ability to edit them)

Give us this day the ability to edit root nodes
and deliver us from multiple posts.

Well, they cannot edit some top-level questions anyway. Perhaps they can make a reply to their own question if they need to clarify things.
As far as I'm aware, you can't edit any form of question i.e. some sections are for questions, others for cool things, code repositories, discussion etc. So my understanding is that "questions" are not editable.

If memory serves vroom told me once that this is nothing to do with possibly imflamatory material being added to a post after moderation. It was to stop people changing the question, thus making the following discussion wrong or irrelevant.

I think a post whose only purpose is to clarify something that's not editable is a kludge at best. I fail to see how not being able to modify the original question, but being able to modify replies adds any benefit.

        Regards.

True that, true that, good lord almighty true that!
One user in particular, asked the same question 5 times.
Granted his question got clearer every time he posted it, it was an enormous waste of space.

It appeared to me he didn't like the responses he got.
It also appeared the responses didn't answer his question.
    Oh my!

I have no problem with 'Broken-English', but you should really know how to ask for help
(even if it takes you 5 trys to refine your question).
    - at least how to edit your original post ;;(
